• Meaning :

Thiruvasagam (God’s reading) is like a Honey composed by me (Manikkavacakar) who born in Vadhavur and written by Lord Shiva. It has explained in a familiar language “Tamil”. In infinite time, it has come to me like a Boat to cross the endless ocean of life. By singing thiruvasagam, Lord Shiva leads to the boundless path (Liberation) by removing from the Life bondage & Life cycle (Life birth & death cycle). He cuts from this afflictive(sorrow,distress) Life and shows the path of internal happiness / Bliss.

• Why Thiruvasagam called as Honey?

Honeybee, when it extracts honey from flower, that time it only taste as alcohol but once Honey Bee collects it and transfer it to his storage, then it turns to Honey taste. Same way, Manikka vacakar transforms his bitter life experience into Thrivasagam (Honey) and give to his devotees to reach Liberation.
